Face and paws twitching.
Wonder what she dreams about.
Probably cat food.
Franchised Disenfranchisement
The disenfranchised have franchised protest,
It looks the same most everywhere,
Large groups of people gathering,
But not sure what they’re doing there,
99 percent of them,
Not sure which message they should share,
A ragtag group of disparate views,
And not one flower in anyone’s hair.
Platitudes
Your honesty won’t start a feud.
Forget the empty platitudes.
I’m giving you the latitude,
To be polite or to be rude.
Give me your honest attitudes.
So if you hate this, tell me, dude.
DROWNING & RISING
We were drowning.
Both of us.
and like drowning people do,
we panicked.
Desperately clinging to each other,
whilst at the same time pushing each other away.
Both of us.
Weighed down with baggage.
So much baggage.
Tied fast, to our hands, our feet,
our bodies, our minds, our hearts, our souls.
Pulling us, dragging us, downward,
and apart.
I was dragged so far down
I couldn’t see you anymore.
Didn’t know if you were above me,
or below me.
I only knew I was drowning,
as were you.
Both of us.
In our bid to survive,
we lost each other,
in our frantic attempt to shed ourselves
of all that was weighing us down.
I lost sight of you, as I tried to
cut cords and set myself free,
find me,
and in time,
I did.
Finally rising up to the surface,
having shed myself of everything,
I manage to scan the horizon,
and there, much
to my eternal surprise,
I see you, in the distance,
bobbing freely, and serenely.
I can see a glow around you,
and I start to swim slowly in your direction,
my heart lifting,
when I realise it appears,
you are also swimming,
towards me.
Organic Change
organic change
comes naturally
a process that
one cannot see
Yet it goes on
there is no doubt
if nourished from
the inside out
change is the fruit
of this process
though will not come
under duress
but in its time
it comes for sure
strong and clear
ripe and mature
change you can trust
organic fruit
from nourishing
down to the root
Surplus Magic
Make a lot more than you need.
Store it up like magic seeds.
Keep it safe in storage jars,
Buried deep inside your heart.
Love seeds safely put away,
And saved up for a rainy day.
And if the passion fizzles out,
Just take your surplus magic out.
Giddy, Happy Ken (GHK)
Hey, hey, hey,
Get your GHK,
Try some today!
You’ll see the world,
In a different way,
No coloured glasses,
Necessary,
When touched by the
GHK faerie,
You’ll jumble up,
What you believe,
With the GHK way,
To perceive,
Life be grand,
Reperceive your troubles,
We only make,
Non-bursting bubbles,
Fill your life with colour,
Dropkick your grey,
Fortify yourself,
With GHK!
This Wind!
Wow! This wind today is really blowing!
It sure gets the autumn spirit going,
Time for hats, gloves, scarves, and a thermal cup,
And maybe even turn your collar up,
Because this wind here is no warm summer breeze,
It’s a blast designed to blow leaves off trees,
Items now should be placed in winter’s store,
Before this wind blows around even more,
It could take your chairs, your outside table,
Challenge a shingle or two, and gable,
Maybe reach further, blowing things away,
There goes a thought that I had yesterday!
Blowing branches, leaves, all kinds of rubble,
And whoosh! There goes a big pile of trouble!
It’s really cleansing, this autumnal blast,
Whoosh! There go some old pieces of my past!
Batten the hatches! Autumn is coming!
Seems like all kinds of changes are coming!
Has my soul flown out the hole?
I know I said
My heart was cracked
And nothing more
Sore but intact
But now a hole
A hole of black
Inside the crack
Is there instead
And in my head
There is a cloud
A could of black
Just like the crack
And hole of black
Inside my heart
Inside my head
Survival of the Fluffiest
I wonder sometimes
Whether cats in warm climes
Put on heavy fur coats when it’s winter.
Though not necessary
Evolutionary biology
Says it’s needed at that time of year.
My cat puts on her
Heavy layer of fur
When the weather begins to get colder.
Fluffs up in the fall
And in spring sheds it all
Never once going out in the weather.
Is it also true that
The Equatorial cat
Has fur coats for both winter and summer?
