I’d rather not say.
“Smoking? Weight loss?
Training? New boss?
Old problems – new solutions?
Straight talk – no convolutions?
Hmmm, something that I missed?
Maybe trim your Facebook list?”
I’ll not say, you need not guess,
They’re private, but I will confess,
The approach that I prefer,
Next year I’ll tell you what they were.

Organic Change

organic change
comes naturally
a process that
one cannot see
Yet it goes on
there is no doubt
if nourished from
the inside out
change is the fruit
of this process
though will not come
under duress
but in its time
it comes for sure
strong and clear
ripe and mature
change you can trust
organic fruit
from nourishing
down to the root

This Wind!

Wow! This wind today is really blowing!
It sure gets the autumn spirit going,
Time for hats, gloves, scarves, and a thermal cup,
And maybe even turn your collar up,
Because this wind here is no warm summer breeze,
It’s a blast designed to blow leaves off trees,
Items now should be placed in winter’s store,
Before this wind blows around even more,
It could take your chairs, your outside table,
Challenge a shingle or two, and gable,
Maybe reach further, blowing things away,
There goes a thought that I had yesterday!
Blowing branches, leaves, all kinds of rubble,
And whoosh! There goes a big pile of trouble!
It’s really cleansing, this autumnal blast,
Whoosh! There go some old pieces of my past!
Batten the hatches! Autumn is coming!
Seems like all kinds of changes are coming!

CHANGE

coax it, tease it, draw it out,
you know what I’m talkin’ ’bout,
it’s shy, don’t try to use force,
be gentle, let things run their course,
a nudge, a wink, perhaps a hug,
should it play hard to get,
give a playful shrug,
thing is, no matter  what you do,
don’t let it get the best of you,
you may think that it’s not yours to make,
but it’s sitting there for you to take,
flirt with it, give it a smile,
tell it resistance is futile,
sooner or later, with this approach,
you’ll no longer have to goad or coach,
it’ll come to you, one delightful day,
both persistance and patience always pay.
