I love the sound of the rain,
Especially in the night,
It calms me,
And slightly alters my perceptions,
So instead of ingesting negativity,
I feel cleansed, and glad, and free,
Appreciating where I am and what I’ve got,
Not focusing on hindrances,
Fences,
That block my way,
Wish I could stay,
In this moment,
When it all feels good,
And there’s no pain,
No fight for acceptance,
No need to gain,
It’s quiet, and dark,
In the middle of the night,
Everything feels right,
And I love the rain.

Midnight Rain
The midnight rain
It beckons me
To show myself
And I don’t resist
Because we both know
I love to be kissed
By sweetened drops
From a night sky
Not obsessed
With staying dry
For the night rain knows
When all’s said and done
I prefer midnight rain
To the midday sun.
Every Raindrop
Sitting in the park
At an outdoor venue
Just over an hour before the show should start
And it starts to rain
People hoping it will stop.
They scurry
In surpressed panic
Covering heads and picnics
Popping up umbrellas
I close my eyes
Tilt my head
And try to feel every separate drop.
I Dare You
I dare you.
Strip down,
Stand naked in the summer rain,
Late in the evening,
And try to think about even one of your problems.
I dare you.
Naked
I felt the rain,
Late tonight,
Against my pane,
So I thought I might,
Take a chance,
In the wee wee hours,
When neighbours slept,
And enjoy the showers,
So out I crept,
With a dark porchlight,
Into the rain,
And it felt so right,
To stand there naked.
