The Allegiance Of Children
Cast, as in iron,
Unwavering, strong,
Yet so delicate,
As we prove,
When we wrongly,
Abuse it and force them to
Choose recklessly,
In so many ways,
When we act selfishly,
When the need to be right
Supercedes what is best,
And our actions uncaring,
Put them to the test,
“Do I have to choose mum?
Do I have to choose dad?
Do I have to keep secrets,
I shouldn’t have had?”
We use them as pawns,
In our pathetic plays,
Then they’re left with questions,
For the rest of their days.

A Thimble Full Of Therapy(what I’ve learned in 50 years)
Be kind, absolutely,
But set boundaries,
Love, but don’t be so
Damned eager to please.
Further Considerations On The Effects Of A Cashless Society
“NOTICE: The Tooth Fairy’s operations have been modernized and optimized like everything else, and will no longer deal in cash. This is an official receipt to tell you the amount of _______ has been deposited in your mother’s bank account. You may demand it of her at your earliest convenience. Don’t forget to brush.”

BUS
The questions seem just so essential,
On thoughts and matters existential.
Who are we? Why me? What’ s the fuss?
And really, will I catch my bus?
BODY WARS
Seems my body cannot
Always do what it pleases
One part starts to pee
While another part sneezes
The bottom part’s flowing
When the top part achoos
Which makes the flow stop
I’ve no way to choose
Then the sneezing pauses
And the peeing resumes
Till I’m sneezing again
And the cycle consumes
Every muscle I have
In pure wrenching stress
And furthermore
Leaves my bathroom a mess!
Yeah, I Know….
I’m overweight. Simple as that.
Short and round, and sorta fat.
Oh yeah, I know I’m not obese,
I can usually see my knees,
But I don’t feel good,
As most things go,
And don’t need you to tell me so,
For truth is I’m really quite aware,
I’ve got at least one tire to spare,
So I don’t say this to chastise,
I just think perhaps it’s wise,
To leave your judgement on the shelf,
For truth is I already hate myself.
Every Action
Forwards or backwards
Backwards or forwards
Every action a step
Away or towards
The attainable goal
The One thing
The Whole
Enchilada.
Equi-not
Equinox has missed it’s stop,
Winter’s holding fast instead,
This year there’ll be no bunny hop,
But more likely an easter sled.
DUCK & COVER
Duck and cover they used to say,
Beneath your desk,
As if that way,
You’d be protected under there,
From fall-out that gets everywhere,
We now think how naïve and sweet,
But at times I wish I could retreat,
Not so much from radiation,
But the fall-out of communication,
Facebook, Twitter, SMS,
Constant contact, constant stress,
And while I appreciate the link,
And sharing every thought I think,
I often drift back to before,
When time and space seemed something more,
Travelled alone, all unconnected,
Read a book, perhaps reflected,
Back in the days of my youth,
To make a call, you used a booth,
We didn’t know “download” or “stream”,
Dick Tracy watches were just a dream,
I sometimes wish I could rediscover,
Days before I had to duck and cover.
Morning Shave
When I shaved this morning,
Thought what the heck,
I’ll put the shaving cream,
All around my neck,
I put it on the front,
Then the back and sides,
Everywhere that razor glides,
Then I did proceed,
With the greatest care
Shaving till I could find
No cream there,
But I must have shaved,
Too deep I think,
For my head fell off,
Into the sink.
Plop.
