Hope and I, we’ve worked it out,
sort of struck ourselves a deal.
we know what it’s all about.
what’s a pipe dream, and what’s real.
I’ve agreed to not invest too much,
to not believe like I was blind.
Hope knows that sometimes it’s a crutch,
that’s a role it doesn’t mind,
but Hope will not be overstated,
not be cheapened or abused.
it will go on unabated,
if for a noble purpose used.
So Hope states clearly it will stay,
as long as I know how to see,
and if I work hard to find a way,
it never will abandon me.
My sentiments exactly.
We don’t sit under a tree and hope, but plant seeds and see hope grow – I reckon.
Beautiful. Recently, I feel like I echo your sentiments, which can only be a good thing.
we must never abandon hope. hope fortifies and ensure the forward motion of life itself.

Fantastic! I absolutely love this piece, Ken. Hope and I have always had a strained relationship, but I hope (there’s that word again) that we have come to some kind of understanding.
I liked the idea of personifying Hope. Again, this is a piece I dug out of my mini-archive which struck me again when I reread it.
Well done.
smart sentiments on trees and our attitude.
well done.
very clever metaphor,
hope and you,
together a dream comes true.
