It’s gray and gloomy
This September day.
It rains and it rains
In my heart today.
And I’ve lit candles
In every room.
Cheerful little lights
To fight the gloom.
But they can’t help
Fight back the tears.
They just keep coming.
It’s been ten years.
I like this a lot. I shared it on my Facebook page. Hope you get a lot of hits –
I’m honored. Thank you!
Lovely verse of remembrance.
sad and moving words.
well done.
We will not forget, but sometimes remembering is hard.
Remembering is hard. Any anger or fear or frustration I might have felt is long gone. After ten years, all I feel is sadness.
very nice…a fine touch in your verse…the candles to push back the shadow and the hope they represent…it is hard though…i just watched a video that about crushed me just seeing some of the footage…
yes – i think there are not enough candles in the world to push back the darkness here…very warm light in your poem to touch the cold..
These lines are beautiful ~
It rains and it rains
In my heart today.
I am feeling the same way today. Such saddness. You have given me a good idea as to lighting a candle. Thank you. Your poem really moved me.
A very touching tribute. I felt such sadness today hearing all of the names read of the victims of the WTC and yet there was a lot of strength expressed too. It was hard not to cry.

Wow, I can’t thank you enough for your lovely words. 🙂
A lovely rememberance verse…that says all that needs to be said.
Very moving.
I love cats as well, pleased to meet you. I identify with this piece, about little lights in the dark sometimes being unable to to keep away gloom. ~MsQ
Lovely tribute to loss and love.
I love the purity and simplicity of this to capture the feeling.
