Word of the Day: flummery

flummery (it’s a Noun, asshat!): meaningless language; empty compliments; nonsense… Or, a soft jelly or porridge-like dessert made with flour or meal.

Used in a sentence: “Fed up with the flummery she received from her fully-functioning, alcoholic boss, Mariah decided to give him a flummery stuffed with poison for lunch.”

  1. Whenever there is a word that ends in -ery, I immediately think of Hamlet: Get thee to a nunn’ry, why woulds’t thou be a breeder of sinners?

Are we now required to use WotD in a creative sentence? Is this a contest? Will there be a prize?
