I am part of the Procrasti,
Which is the designation
Of the patriotic put-it-offers,
The proud Procrasti Nation.
There’s no task that a Procrast,
Cannot put off till later.
I have a much more pressing matter,
One that cannot wait, like…
Looking up the words that rhyme,
With procrastinate.
Abbreviate, attrition rate,
Evaporate, equivocate.
Such procrastination bliss!
I’m doing it right now,
As I’m writing this.
But, alas, this Procrast,
Must get back to work again.
The putting it off comes to an end.

Past Due
Dedicated to my sister and my stubborn little niece.
One week past due,
But not here yet.
We’re hoping she,
Did not forget.
The time has come.
Time to arrive.
But she’s past due,
More days than five.
The time is now.
The world awaits.
She’s past due,
But procrastinates.
One week past due,
On her account.
That baby just,
Will not come out!
Too busy…
I’m too busy to write a new poem.
Too busy to write the next line.
Too busy for meter and rhythm.
Too busy to think of a rhyme.
Too busy, but I just can’t help it.
Too busy to write something new.
Too busy, but that doesn’t matter.
I’m too busy, but what can I do?
Priorities
There’s vacuuming, and dishes,
And laundry to be done,
But it’s hard to motivate yourself
When sitting in the sun.
I know I said I’d do it.
I’d said that I’d get to it.
But it’s Friday and the sun is out,
So I say fucking screw it.
